Wonderful for young music lovers!

"I bought this for my son after he attended music class. He loves and plays with each and every instrument, his favorite being the triangle. It is so great to see him get really excited when I say "want to strike up the band?" He runs over to the box, pulls each instrument out and we have such a fun time creating music and memories together."

Happy Noises!

"Sure it's loud, but these are happy noises. Put on some music and hand over this band in a box and your child will entertain himself for minutes (hours would be nice, but I have yet to find a toy that'll do that!). Rhythm sticks and maracas are my son's favorites (he's 11 months). He's not ready for the symbols so I've put those away and will bring them out when he's older."

"My 3-year old does love this set, but the tamborine ripped the first week, not quite durable enough for boys, but overall a good mix of fun instruments."

"I bought this for my daughter for her 3rd birthday. At the party she handed out the insturments and we had a parade. She has played with it over and over and it still looks new. My 2 year old is enjoying now, too."

fun for kids, easy on old folks' ears!

"My rough & tumble daughter, almost four, has had this gorgeous Band in a Box set for just under a year. The fun really begins when pals come to play...marching band madness! The Maracas, though perhaps less intense than most on the market, are easy on a tired mama's ears at the end of a long day! Everything has held up beautifully. Love love love it!"

Kids love it, but pretty fragile

"We've had this band in a box for a little while now, and with a toddler and 2 preschooler's it's held up OK. Part of it is that they LOVE to play "music" so the instruments get a lot of attention. BUT, within a month the tamborine and the little clapper thing both fell apart. They still play with the other instrutments and enjoy them, but it would have been nice if the other 2 held together longer."

Good quality, almost perfect

"I shipped this to my nieces, and was excited to see it once it arrived. Everything looked great. Except, the girls were disappointed with the maracas, they were just too quiet. While I appreciated the quality and workmanship, the girls missed the loud rattle of the plastic variety and quickly lost interest. Also, the tambourine skin didn't last long...it has since been punctured."

Not Very Musical

"I was disheartened with the musical instrument set. The maracas barely make a sound, the tambourine was broken after my son drummed on it only twice, and the rhythm sticks are fair. The clapper seems to be the only one that works well. I usually love all of the Land of Nod products, so I was disappointed by this one!!"

"This is such a nice assortment of instruments at an afforable price. Triangle is a big novel and quite a hit in my house. Only problem is that the tamborine broke (might have been stepped on by one of the kids and the white covering tore) - other instruments seems more durable."

Classic Toy Instruments

"I grew up with a set just like this one and loved it as a child. I wanted my children to have the same experience as I did. They really love music and play around on the piano, so I thought they would love this and they have. It isn't something they play with all the time, but at least once a week. It is a classic old-fashioned set, so it does require some supervision with young children. The only negative thing about the set is that the clapper (the red instrument with two wooden pieces, one on each side, connected with a elastic string) needs adjustment once in a while to work properly and I have had it come apart once."

"My 4-year old received this set as a gift when she turned 1 and my son recently received the identical set for his first birthday. Both kids adore music and this set of instruments has been well-used. My son walks around with at least one of the maracas at all times. The pieces are beautiful, sturdy, and the terrific wooden box they come in is great to help keep track of them, all while looking very lovely - not a plastic eyesore."
