Great desk and hutch
"Strong and beautiful. Solid wood, well constructed, nice finish that is light on the varnish. Drawers roll easily, but fit is only good, not great. Desk is quite large; my ten year old is just big enough for it and it will take him through high school. Love the hutch. It is beautiful and strong. Excellent value overall."

Nice, good quality

Desk is very easy to scratch, dent, mark
"Although I like the way the desk looks, unfortunately I am finding that it is INCREDIBLY EASY to scratch, mark, and dent; it doesn't take much to do this, and, with kids, it's a virtual certainty this will happen. I don't understand why they didn't apply a type of finish or protectant to the desk that would make it less susceptible to marks and scratches. When you pay $1200 for a desk, hutch, and chair, you expect it to hold up better than this. For this reason alone, I wouldn't recommend this desk to people with kids or pets. And to the makers of the desk, you need to do something to the desk to make it less susceptible to scratches."

What you would expect
"This is a pretty nice looking desk. It is heavier and larger than it appears in the picture. The finish is natural but it is darker that the other natural furniture we have from other vendors. The chair is very solid and heavy. The verticals are solid 2x2 wood. The drawers are reinforced and work nicely.
The setup an installation (in Atlanta) was very well done. They came upstairs and aligned the hutch before fastening it on.
The big problem I have with this desk is the desktop itself is not solid. It is a laminate. I guess "solid alder" means something different to marketing people. Being a laminate means it has a limited lifespan since I can't really sand and refinish it. This is a pretty solid and heavy desk but I expect it won't last through multiple kids. For the price it does not exceed my expectations."

Fantastic Desk!
"I had been looking for months for a sturdy, nice looking desk for my son & was so happy when we rec'd this desk. It fits my 8 yr old perfectly & the hutch displays all of his prized possessions. Of course I wish it was less $$ but all in all, it's been a great purchase."

A desk for life
"We purchased this desk for our 6 year old son and he loves it! He's stored all of his art supplies in the drawers and even in the fold down drawer/keyboard tray. The best thing about it is that he will be able to continue to grow into it as he gets older!"

Great desk for elementary school-age kids
"My son has this desk and hutch. He got it when he was six and it is perfect for his age and I think it will be for a number of years. The desk has a lot of nice flat "table" space for writing and drawing. The drawers are great for storage. The hutch is fun for posting photos and drawings and to-do lists, and of course for storing books and things on the shelf above."
