Healthy Choice
"This mattress is expensive, but it will last forever! It's nice and firm (and HEAVY). it's got a waterproof side and and a padded side. Most importantly, because my 4 year old boys still take afternoon naps and sleep 10-11 hours each night, it's good to know that they aren't breathing in harmful chemicals."

Nice but buy the third mattress option
"The Naturepedic website dispays all three mattress options and also three different size options. We purchased the the next option up (the third option) from this one (which is the second option on Naturepedic website) (in a full size) and couldn't be happier. So glad we did because of the reveiws stating how hard this (which is the second option) mattress is. Yes, I know that a crib/ toddler mattress is suppose to be firm as one reviewer stated but this mattress sounds even more firm than the crib mattres we have (which we love) for our baby (now 3 1/2 years old, and has outgrown it) and it is firm and comfy and does't even have coils (Colgate Natural 1- compressed coconut fibers surrounded by wool). Anyway the mattress we recently purchased (the third option) to go with our convertable (Romina-Karisma-European) crib/bed is not waterproof on either side so you'll need the waterproof mattress cover but they reccommend this anyway regardless of what mattress you get. To save money you could get the 2 in 1 (the second option which is cheaper) and flip it over to the non-waterproof side (for comfort) like one of the reviewers did but note that was not the persons original intention. If you choose this option you"ll probably come close to if not the same comfort level as the third option, but I couldn't be sure. So if you want a firm yet comfortable mattress (that you won't need to spennd money replacing or flipping sooner due to the comfort level) with medium firm support then the third option (not this one, 2 in 1, which is the second option) would be the best choice. There's also a comfort topper option that goes up to king size that can be placed ontop any mattress not just naturepedic. This is also another economical option to lessen the firmness of a mattress.
1st choice- Both sides waterproof also sides I think. You could put mattress topper on this one as well
2nd choice- One sde is waterproof, the other side is not waterproof, known as the 2 in 1. They claim this the most popular.
3rd choice- Neither side is waterproof, but most comfortable. Must use waterproof mattress cover. This is the one that we purchased. Five stars for the third choice in my opinion.
You'll need to order the mattress from one of their retailers. It takes about a month or so to receive this mattress because it's a special order. You can purchase other items directly from the naturepedic website."

Just what we wanted
"This is a firmer mattress (especially the waterproof side), but my daughter has slept really well on it so far. Her crib/toddler bed mattress was on the firmer side too. I'm glad that LON offers an organic option."

worth the price
"it was a pricey decision, but it was worth it. the mattress is so comfortable - we fall asleep before our 4 year-old does sometimes. love that it is waterproof on one side, but we bought it for chemical-free sleeping. hoping it will last until he goes off to college."

Good Mattress
"Researched a lot of mattresses and decided on this one when my daughter was ready to move out of her crib. I like the idea of less chemicals in her life, especially for all of the hours she will sleep on it. This is a very hard mattress though, especially on the waterproof side. I would recommend also getting a cushy mattress pad to go with it."

Organic mattresses are an investment...
"and this is a solid mattress from a reputable company. However, the waterproof side is unbelievably hard and I ended up turning it over before my daughter was fully potty trained because I couldn't stand the thought of her sleeping on that any longer. The other side is more comfortable but still pretty hard. I'm happy to know she isn't breathing toxic fumes from a regular mattress but wish they could make them a little cozier for an older child, since she will have this mattress for a while."

Mattress for very young kids should be very firm
Posted September 9, 2011
Most adults would be extremely uncomfortable on a crib mattress, but mattresses for babies and pre-toddler children are supposed to be very firm. Consumer Reports says, "Don’t worry that it may feel too firm. If it feels good to you, it’s too soft for your baby." Their bones are soft and growing, and they need the support to develop properly.

Wonderful Mattress
"I love this mattress and I am so glad that I decided to invest in it. We've owned it for 2 years now and this mattress is in perfect condition still. I also purchased the waterproof mattress pad for extra protection."
